Garde-Robe has a dress similar to a dress that Serena wore.. (I'm not very good with their outfits as I don't watch the show)

It comes in blue and yellow and it's RM45. Free size and material is stretchable cotton.

Why the sudden random update?

I have been feeling bad that this blog has been left

unattended and had been on hiatus for so long :(

And so i decided to blog again.

"Gossip Girl Much?"

Ok this show is just awesome!

And let's face it,

we not only watch this show for the awesomeness drama

Hello after a long absence, Westwood here :)

Conversations with Mischka has left me with the urge to blog again.
Why did we stop the last time? I guess our schedules just overwhelmed us and we couldn't afford the time to blog.
Even if we had continued we wouldn't have been blogging as much as we would have liked to so we just decided to halt operations... but I noticed Mischka has been blogging.
Anyway I'll probably start blogging again but not as often as I used to cause my schedules do not permit me to do so :)

Today, I'll say a little something about my observations on the current 'trend' in denim wear.. skinny jeans.
Skinnies are lovely but as with all forms of fashion, you have to take note of your body shape.
If you have big hips and short legs I do not advice you to wear skinny jeans... Why? Because you'll end up looking like a denim carrot! And anything that makes you look like a walking vegetable should not be worn.

I'm an athlete and have huge arms and board shoulders.

Dress for the occasion!

Oh my God! It's been so long! Hello~! :D
I'm so sorry I've been virtually missing from this blog.
My only reason being... I was 'busy' ^_~

Anyway, this months' theme is FORMAL :D
Yay! I love formal wear so much.
Since Anna has blogged about the difference between all the dress codes (too many, if you ask me), I would be talking about something we always talk about... 'Dressing for the occasion'.

Words cannot express how important it is.

1. Weddings
Weddings are joyous occasions and everybody loves dressing up for a wedding.
Avoid, absolutely avoid, tops that reveal too much, super mini skirts, JEANS.
Unless your wedding invitation says dress casual.
Most weddings are formal and it's always a grand affair so respect the grandeur of the occasion and wear your best dress :)
Unfortunately, I've seen girls in their prom dresses at weddings. That's a no. One can tell a prom dress from a proper dress.
Perfect for this night: A little black dress.

2. Proms
Now, proms are also formal occasions and more often than not you won't be allowed to enter the ballroom unless you're in formal attire.
This is the time you college students can ditch your everyday jeans, t-shirts and sneakers and pretty yourself up for a night of fun!
When shopping for a prom dress, take into account the price, colour, cut and design. Make sure it suits your bodyshape. It's best to ask for your friend's opinion. Do not be afraid to try on every dress on the rack even if you end up not buying anything. At the prices they charge, you are allowed at least that much.
Never overdo the accessories for proms. The attention should be on you, not the large rock hanging from your neck. Keep everything subtle and light..

3. Cocktails
Okay, not many people go for cocktails on a daily basis (lol) but it's good to know.
Cocktail dresses are usually bright, fun and not long.
Cocktail dresses for me equals a fun dress. Not as serious as all the others. Yet again, you gotta be subtle with your accessories. Actually, with everything, be subtle with accessories. Accessories is nothing but the icing on the cake and it shouldn't clash with your cake. Match your accessories to your outfit not the other way round :)
Match up your cocktail dress with an awesome pair of heels, a pair of beautiful earrings that match, a necklace and you're ready to go!
Perfect for this occasion: A cute, vibrant dress that screams classy yet fun

4. Presentations or meetings
Yes, girls, this is formal too! When meeting or presenting you must always look your best and professional. Too much cleavage is an absolute NO. First impressions are important as it will decide the outcome of the meeting or presention.
Depending on your line of work, dress accordingly.
If it's an informal presentation than it's okay to wear a button-up shirt (that fits the form) and slacks. Note: Even if it's informal, you dress smart casual.. more smart less casual.
But, if it's a super formal meeting/presentation where you're gonna be meeting the top people, wear the full thing. Jackets, slacks, shirts, pencil skirts.. whatever. Make sure you look professional and not sloppy.
(Slacks are not meant to be figure hugging. If they hug your thighs, they're too small)
Highly important to not look sloppy. Look smart. :)

To wear, or not to wear; that is the question.

Okay, that wasn't what Shakespeare really said, but I'm sure he would have, if he was female and into fashion, like we all are :). So, a new month, a new theme! Yay! And it seems I'm the first to start writing on this new theme. As an OMGYC tradition, we usually start the new theme with collages done by each of us. But FB is not agreeing with me at the mo, so I can't get my collage done. Next week? Sorry.

Now, moving on... What is formal wear? It’s a general fashion term for clothing suitable for formal social events; wedding, prom, dance, dinner (business or social). Even for us college students, we have to wear formal clothes when doing a presentation. At least, I know I have to. And the most common problem is, usually people have absolutely NO IDEA what to wear. Some turn up with jeans, or t-shirts and that’s a big no-no. And this leads to my favorite kinda post; a GUIDE on what to wear and what NOT to wear for a few different 'formal' events.

Now, this is just what I THINK we should wear. I won't claim to be an expert on this matter. I hardly attend formal events :)

If the dress code says:

1) FORMAL.

This depends on the nature of the event. Is it social or business? For formal social events like prom, dinner and wedding, this is a good time to take out those gowns and dresses. If you don't have it, even better: gives you an excuse to go shopping! Makeup is a must! Also, it depends on the time of day of the event. What I mean is, if it takes place in the afternoon, dresses are more suitable. If the event is in the evening, then evening gowns of course! Here are some examples, celebrity-style;

Now, if we're talking about formal business events, we're aiming for a professional look. So, look smart with a chic work suit or skirt. Here are some examples.

No boob flashing either, girls. Its alright for Vicky B, but not us. You want to look professional.

This will earn you attention alright, but not the kind you're looking for.

2) SEMI-FORMAL.

For events like wedding receptions(?), or (again) dinner.

Not as formal (duh), so you can keep those gowns. Dresses are still a must, or slacks will do the job too. Jeans are acceptable, but avoid if possible.

3) SMART CASUAL. (aka Business casual?)

Now, this is abit tough. I don't really know what event calls for smart casual dressing.

But smart casual consists of slacks, crisp jeans or a skirt (long or short), a blouse or turtleneck, a fashionable belt, a jacket, a vest, or a sweater coordinated to your outfit, with boots, flats (leather, suede, or fabric) or mid-heel shoes. You may also wear jewelry, such as earrings that complement the overall outfit.

I think we should move on to examples, so you get a clearer picture.

So sorry for the late post.I was very busy today.
But at least i'm trying my very best and posting now.So yeah me.

Because of my black and gold collage,this week i set out to find all things black and gold.But not black & gold separately, black & gold together in one classy piece of jewelry.
Which is not something you see often.I have to say though, mission accomplished.
In just one shop,i found so many great buys,you could say i was drooling.
A kid in a candy store,i heart Diva.

Price: RM178 This week, we came to an agreement that we should put up something other than the normal accessories.We found this perfume to be especially interesting. Not only does it smell awesome but the limited edition 'Shimmer' actually has shimmering dust in it! Which makes your arm sparkle when you spray on perfume.And perfume is a GREAT accessory to carry cause you must always smell nice :)

Killing two birds with one hot stone

This month, I've decided to go for the young but sophisticated theme because what I've come to notice is some people associate 'sophistication' for looking old and some put 'young' with kiddish. Which is not the case at all.

One thing I think all girls should avoid... are plastic jewelry with kiddish shapes or cartoons. There's so many of them around, I see them all the time. On shelves AND on people. I'd like to express a little of my opinions on jewelry in general.

Plastic jewelry with a cartoon face, huge plastic strawberries with weird bling, plastic cherries with stem hanging of a necklace, bling-ed up Hello Kitty etc. makes people look kiddish, for starters, and strange. Plastic is okay, if it's not taking after a fruit.
In Breakfast at Tiffany's, she says women should not wear diamonds until they are 50. There is some truth in that, small diamonds are fine but a huge diamond that is obviously not real (because then they would cost a few hundred million) is a problem. Especially if it's hanging off your neck. Rings are fine, but necklaces tend to irk me a little.
Earrings that are not symmetrical. Of course, I'm talking about symmetry when you put the two together, side by side. They should be even. If you're wearing a pair of earrings with hearts that had one side bigger than the other on the left ear, the right ear should have the earring flipped. You get me?
Too many necklaces on ONE neck = not great.

This week, I bring you earrings.
Try to go for bright colours in rhinestones and curvy lines in your jewelry. The curvy lines bring a softer look and the bright colours make you look fresher and younger but yet, it looks nice and not too old or too young.

It's pricey but what I liked about this pair of earrings is the quality. The picture does it no justice. It's very neatly done and it's VERY symmetrical (thank you) and it doesn't look ready to fall apart :) And the pink is very sweet.
The earring to the right of this one is also very nice but this pink one stood out.

Unlike the one above, this is a little more subdued but the detail on the metal bits is nice and this is a very nice shade of brown. This is suitable for those who can't stand their earrings hitting their necks.

The price is a steal and I love the way the shapes blend in with each other in this piece.
Symmetrically not very straight looking at the picture but you'll never know..

Big and Bold is the way to go

It’s what kind of accessories I’ll be focusing on this month.
Chunky Bracelets, Big Earrings, Rings, etc..

The thing with going big and bold is, it’s sort of making your accessories the focus point. So it’s better to dress down, be more subtle with your outfit, so your accessories can stand out more than your outfit.

1.Chunky Bracelets/ Bangles
They are very casual and they go with almost anything, just put on a simple or plain top, jeans and a few of these chunky bangles and your all set. They can be used almost anywhere, just to a casual outing, formal event (for formals, pick more gold or silver) or even to the beach.
Watches are also a great accessory.

2. Rings
They are small but details matter! I love bold rings that stand out.

3. Earrings & Necklaces
When accessorizing from your neck up with chunky and bold accessories, it’s better to pick one focal
as well, either you earrings or your necklace. Imagine person wearing big and chunky earrings and a bold necklace all at one, it will be too much and too heavy

4. Hairband
Yes, they are an accessory too, hair accessory. Besides the fact that they hold your hair back, they are also cute. Watch ‘Gossip Girl’? I wonder how many she has in total? hehe..

5. Handbags and Clutches
Something every girl needs and don’t leave home without. A bag is not just a bag. Make sure it goes along with your outfit and I think I’ve said this a few times already, please do not get the overly oversized bags! Lol..

Back with a new theme!

There's a few things to mention today :)

New theme!
This month, we've decided to go with ACCESORIES!
Why accesories, you might ask.. because an outfit is the cake and accesories is like the icing. The all important decoration that makes one look good and presentable.
After four months of focusing on clothes, we've decided to go with accesories because we think it deserves as much attention as we give clothes :)

Secondly, we'd like to apologise for our month long semi-absence.
We know we've been apologising but we'll take some time to explain what happened last month :)
There were some internet problems scattered throughout the four us, one after another. And that really messed up our 'operations'.
Also, last month saw the four of us going through different tough projects and we spent alot of time staying up all night and working as well as being away from the computer for long periods of time. We feel guilty for neglecting our blog the way we did and we promise that we'll try very hard to update the way we use to :)

The next and final (but definitely not least) thing today is about our Saturday columns :)

and been very busy!

Tips to stay safe while clubbing:

1. Set a limit, stick to it.
Try not to get wasted. It ain’t a pretty sight.
But if you have to,
bring a sober friend along.

2. Buddy System
Bring along a friends.
Don’t go alone.

3. Eat.
Eat a full meal.
Eating high protein foods will slow down the absorption rate so
alcohol won’t hit your system all at one.

4. Don’t Mix
Don’t mix your drinks.
Stick with one type of alcohol.
And don’t accept drinks from strangers.

5. Have Fun!
Stick to the ‘stay safe’ plan, and you’ll be alright.
Otherwise, enjoy ur night and have fun!

No appropriate title cause my wit fails me

First, I wanna apologise for my absence. Trust me, it isn't like me at all to not post for so many weeks. Truth is, my internet is as dead as a dead fish and isn't going to be revived anytime soon.
Currently, I'm blogging 'illegally' through the use of another computer without the owner's permission :)

Anyway, I still have not forgotten my theme for this month.. though the month is almost over, I'll still try to put up whatever I had in mind before :)

5 things about my theme that I hope people realise

1. Dress up, dress right.
As much as I love all the corsets and stuff like that, you first have to know where you're gonna go party. Which club, which house, which whatever.
Let's face it, as much as you might like being the centre of attention, if you're going to be the ONLY one there dressed like that, I'll assure you that the looks being thrown your way is definitely not the looks of envy. If you wanna make an impact, bring in some mates and have fun.

2. Extreme means all the way.
Can't stress this point enough.
It's just bad when you're dressing up half-assed... which is why there's alot of fashion problems out there. People don't wanna be extreme but they wanna wear it..it's annoying.
So go all the way or don't bother going there at all.

3. Dressing this way does not necessarily reflect your personality.
Somehow or another, I've realised this.
I've met some of the nicest people dressed like this
Usually, friendly. Try not to stereotype people and try not to act the way people stereotype.
Wear the clothes, not the other way round.

4. Ugly can actually work.
If you're trying this out for the first time and you look in the mirror and go 'Oh Lord! I look like shit!'. Then I think you're on the right track. Especially, if you're the sort who does not usually dress this way. Somehow or another, based on what I've seen and heard, most people who go to such extremes from their usual shirts and jeans have this reaction.

5. We're not murderers.
I've seen older people that look as if they're 1 second away from kneeling on the ground and praying when they see somebody dressed like this.
Yo... we ain't gonna murder you.
It's quite funny, though. If you ever find yourself in this situation.. I suggest you smile and wave. With all that make-up, smiling and waving might actually make them start praying.
That'll be a laugh.

i think i need to start time managing.
so sorry i didn't update last week.
the flu bug did not do me any favors.

but for fashion sake, i shall try to always overcome it and blog anyway.

today my topic will be,
5 things every girl should carry in her handbag when she goes clubbing.

1.cell phone
this is very important, girls listen up.it's always better to think positive.but just in case, please make sure your cell phones are fully charged and your line is not barred/have credit.things can go wrong and you need to be able to call people.
also it's much needed for number exchanges with hot men.

2.lip gloss
when it comes to clubbing, don't bother bringing foundation, forget retouching your blush.lip gloss is your best bet.it's easy,small,and can freshen up your look in a second.in the dark who can really see your make up anyway? lip gloss adds some much needed sparkle to your lips.the shimmery effect is more than enough.

3.tissues
if you are anything like me,and u start dancing from the time you get there till the time you leave, tissues are of the utmost importance.wash room's always run out of them after a certain time.so it's always best to carry tissues in case of eyeliner smudge, and etc.it's always better to be prepared.

4.mirror
for those much needed make up checks when you spot a hot guy and there's a long line for the ladies.
need i say more? i thought so.

5.camera
nights out are meant to be enjoyed, so make them last with photo's all through the night.memories are priceless.we're only young once,so go wild and make the most of it.
and when all is said and done, u can always upload ur albums to facebook/friendster/myspace.

the most important thing to bring?
good company,and a good attitude.

Shock is all in your head!

If you've seen my collage that was posted on Monday, you'd notice that I'm 'partying' weird this time round.
The reason why I've decided to go with this theme is because I realised the word 'party' is so general. There's so many different ways to party. You can party like a rockstar, rave, dirty dance blah blah. So many different 'genres'. And I had a feeling that the girls will go with the sexy-teasing look for partying so I thought I'd take a different route and give a little bit of variety.

Only problem with my theme though, is there's NO WAY or no chance that we'll be able to find decent stuff here in our country. :S I think the market for stuff like this here is too small.
There is a whole slew of websites online that market stuff for people who are interested and they're all very nicely designed and very well-made. I'll be highlighting a few of my favourites in the next few weeks and if I happen to find something really great in shops, I'll be sure to post it up too :D

Anyway, this week, I've decided I'll talk abit about the few different things in my collage and if I find some stuff online, I'll just post it up :)

1. Corsets
I can't find anything ugly about the corset. People may not like the look but I like the way it clinches around the waist and really defines the figure. But, in this day and age, where it's not normal to have a 36" chest and a 20" waist, I suggest people go with the corsets that fit the waist and not those that make the waist fit it.
If any of you remember, one of the first few items I posted on this blog was a corset.. for our Valentine's theme.
2. Boots
I do realise that it's a common thing to associate 'boots' with this look. But lets face it, imagine walking out in full fetish gear and wearing sneakers.. or flip flops. It just looks wrong.
Really tall platform boots, high heeled boots, tons of buckles.. just make sure it looks as hell-ish as possible. And you're ready to kick some bum.
Hell-ish can also come in a non-boot form as shown in the collection of pictures below.
3. Top Hat
This isn't so common. Most girls like to wear a headband-ish lace-y thing rather than a top hat. I don't quite like the lacy headband. I think the top hat gives off a bigger impact.
And it so happens, that I'm very intrigued with the psychological meaning behind the character 'The Mad Hatter' from Alice in Wonderland. Which is another reason why I find the top hat interesting.4. Accesories
Aside from the seemingly 'compulsary' studded belts, chokers and arm bands there's a whole lot more things you can accesorise yourself with.
People tend to place the 'tiara' in the 'princess' look category, I've noticed. It will look princess-y if you wear it with a cinderella gown. I like to match the tiara with a really punked up goth-ish fetish outfit. Place it a little off-center on your head, as though it's been knocked off.
Fishnets are also a good for accesorising. Bored of the normal fishnet look? Rip it.
Besides studded chokers, if you're going for a true-blue Victorian 'goth' look (or whatever you wanna call it), you can try wearing chokers that are beaded or made out of fabric. That way, you won't look TOO rocker-ish. But I prefer the studded chokers.
I did find some nice stuff online but they were quite pricey and they were in POUNDS. So, I'll give it a break for today. The nice stuff are all up there in pictures. Well, some of them.
In the next few weeks, I might just do some pictorial step-by-step guide to making your own accesories because they're quite simple and it takes basic knowledge in stitching.
But I'll only do that if I do have the time to sit down and make jewelry. Which may not happen :S

Sticking with my theme, Sexy but classy outfits for parties and when hitting the club!
While Westwood’s going all out, I’m toning it down..

Sexy doesn’t always mean you should revealing almost everything, and wearing less. There are other ways to stand out and hot for your night out. Here are some tips =)

Note: Sorry guys the pictures below are found on the internet not in stores.
Didn’t have time to go shopping this week =( So just use these pictures as
a guide.

1. Sequins, only during the night.. It will look too much if you’re wearing sequined tops or dresses during the day. But for the night, they will definitely make you stand out.

2. Show a lil skin. It’s all about showing skin in the right places and NOT about flaunting everything. Use tops that expose your back and shoulder more rather then exposing your boobs, belly and wearing micro-mini skirts. If you’re wearing a very revealing top pair it with pants instead of skirts, where else if it’s a more conservative top go with mini skirts. Basically, you need a balance in our outfit.

3. See through is a big No No. “See through Tops + Bra Showing = Slutty + Tacky”. Try something more like a lace top or dress that sorta looks like lingerie but not lingerie itself. Lace can be very sexy, at the same time, classy depending on how you wear it.

It’s all about the outfit and how you wear it.

And as our weekly schedule goes,
It's my duty to start things off.

First off, I am going to start with my philosophy of what good clubbing wear is.
To me good clubbing wear consists of two major elements,

Style and comfort, it has to be stylish yet comfortable. itching, scratching and all that makes for bad comfort and bad style.no pain no gain? more like more pain,no fun. ur clubbing nights out are meant to be enjoyed,so why sabotage it right.

Underexposure, girls love to dance and lets face it, sometimes alcohol makes you alot more lively.and in these moments of lively'ness we tend to sometimes forget what we are doing.so it's better to wear something that covers u nicely,and not having to worry about nipple slips, butt cleavage and thong previews.

And now, some clubbing outfit ideas.
Today I've gone all black.
Black is basic,and it's always best to start with the basics :)

Looking at the previous posts on swimsuits by Westwood, I have to admit every piece looks really nice (although I'm not sure if I would ever wear a bikini unless I want to kill everyone else on this planet). But face it, as much as we like it, we can't buy them all.. Not only is it unpractical (we live in Malaysia!), not all swimsuits fit us. And that, girls, is the main point of this topic. Choosing the right swimsuit for yourself. Everyone is different; height, size, body shape,etc.. We may like a certain something, but if it doesn't fit us, there's no point in buying it. You won't ever wear it anyway. And even if you do, it would look totally wrong on you. So, today's post will teach you to choose the right swimsuit for yourself and look good! :)

The typical body types.

Pear-shaped.

⁃ This body type has rounded hips and bottom, and a wider waist than shoulders.

⁃ To create the illusion of having broader shoulders, choose one piece boatneck, racerback and tummy control swimsuits.

⁃ Don't be afraid to flaunt your tiny top half. Look for tops with paddings and under wire support. Tops that are ruffled, ruched, or draped are great for achieving a bustier look.

⁃ If you prefer 2-piece suits, choose patterned halter style tops with darker bottoms.

Apple-shaped.

• This body type is the inverted triangle shape. This means they have broader shoulders/upper body and slim legs and thighs.

• Choose swimsuits with a high-cut neckline to minimize the top, and emphasize the bottom.

• Also, tankini's with vertical stripes are a good choice as they create the illusion of a longer, more streamlined mid section.

• Dark colors and graphic patterns are great for bust minimizing options.

• For 2-piece suits, choose solid tops with printed bottoms

Slender/Athletic shape.

• The body type is long and lean with the same width at the shoulders, waist and hips.

• The main goal of this body type is to produce curves.

• A little padding on top can go a long way when it comes to creating curves, and a belted bottom adds definition to the waist and hips.

• Look for swimsuits that creates the look of a defined waistline.

Hourglass shape.

• Considered to be the perfect body shape; well defined bust, waist and hips.

• Any style of swimsuits is suitable for this body shapes.

• Try something that will show off your feminine curves.

Round/Oval shape.

• This body shape has a fuller bust and less-defined waist, with more narrow shoulders and thighs.

• Choose swimsuits that draws attention away from the midriff and tummy area.

• Try dark solid colors.

Others.

Short legs/torso.

• Find a suit that is cut high on the thigh. This makes your leg look so much longer. And if you have curvy hips, this cut will accentuate your smaller waist.

• Choose a solid bottom bikini with a printed top. This will draw the eye upward and give you a longer look.

• A solid, one piece suit with plunging neckline creates a continual, long appearance.

• Avoid boy shorts and skirted bikinis.

My brain is on holiday too

Just like Mischka, I drew a complete blank this week :S
I had absolutely no idea what to write about and lets admit it, there's only so much to talk about the beach. As I mentioned on Monday, we may deviate from the theme for our posts but our findings will be according to the theme.

I thought I'd talk a little about a few of my fashion 'please DON'T do in a million years'. (That means stuff that gets under my skin). Just because I think I've never done this before. These are all based on things that I have seen on more than just one occasion.

1. Pink and blue as a match.

It just doesn't match!
Especially when your top is pink and we can all see your blue underwear because you're not wearing pants. (Yes, I saw a girl walk past me in a mall dressed like this)

2. Do not drench thyself in one colour.

That's a commandment.

Wearing a purple top, purple jeans, purple jacket, purple earrings, purple necklace and a purple bracelet does nothing to flatter. It does attract attention... of the wrong sort.

3. More than one sort of clip on hair.

Absolutely NOT! If you're walking out the door with five clips on your fringe and they're all of different colour and size, please walk back in and take them all of.

Clips with strawberries and teddy bears are for kids!

The Japanese may be doing it but we're Malaysian. People let the Japanese off because they're Japanese. People don't let us off because we're not Japanese.

4. White face, brown neck?

When buying foundation, be sure to always test it on your jawline to make sure it blends with your neck. Never buy foundation that's lighter than your real colour. If you want to be fairer, they have whitening creams for that. But I always say, be happy with your skin.

5. Strings are not for pants unless it's a drawstring.

One thing that manages to get on my nerves are pants with the strings hanging off them. What is their purpose? What's the function? If you aren't a mountain climber and you're not a boyscout in the making, having strings hanging off your pants is an absolute no-no.

6. Spiked hair of more than one foot.

Let's face it, unless you're a performing artist of sorts, spiked hair should be kept to a minimum. Walking around with hair spiked longer than my own hair unspiked is dangerous. Someone's eye could be gauged out thanks to your fashion mistake. If you do insist on walking out with hair like this, DO.NOT.NOD. Thanks.

I've got so many more but I'm running out of time. So much to do, so little time!

If my memory doesn't fail me, I remember them to be around RM68.

If you find the top looks weird, trust me, if you have boobs it wouldn't look weird.

Alright, fashionistas, we need to help a girl in a crisis... URGENTLY.

I am a kind of girl who wear jeans and shirts and heels/ flip flop. I'm with a very famous local band who's going to perform on Anugerah Bintang Popular this coming 30th March. They also need to walk on the red carpet for the event. I tried not to involve with this red carpet thinging. But the problem is, since I'm the gf of the band's vocalist, he asked me to walk with him on the red carpet.

The theme for the event is BATIK. I was like, 'Oh my goodness!' I cant imagine myself wearing dress (batik), heels, with make up, and walk down the red carpet in front of thousands people.

Can u please help me, what kind of evening dress shud I wear, where I can get it, or mebi you can come out with dress at reasonable price since your blog is very well known among all on9 boutique. Or mebi its not very necessary for me to wear batik dress since its only applied to the stars, not me! Mebi black dress shud be ok?

Hie girls. Really appreciate your time and brain juice to help me figure this one out.

You see, recently my boyfriend had a conversation with one of his (senior) friend.

She's a really great girl, and a great friend as well.

Cuz (according to his claims) she'd sacrifice her wardrobe to oblige to her boyfriends wants.

He (her bf) wanted her to wear as conservative as possible.

And so.. My boyfriend has been influenced and now he's askin me to be more conservative about my outfits. But the major problem is that most of my outfits are either shoulder-bearing, back bearing, or tubes.

Now I'm facing a challenge on how to wear my clothes and still look chiq in them "covered up".

I've jackets, cardigans and a shawl in my fav colour. But jackets and cardis are too heat-confining for me. The lecture halls at where I'm studying is kinda stuffy & hot at times.

So.. There's that problem, my shawls being a doll.. but I can't wear it EVERYTIME rite?

I'm at your mercy girls.

February has come and gone. A new month, a new theme! ^_^ This month (I’m repeating this for the 4th time) is the BEACH theme! I don’t know about you, but right now I’m thinking of all the hot shirtless men running by the beach (oo-er!). Unfortunately, this is Malaysia we’re talking about. No beaches nearby. No hot men either. Bummer! Some people may be going for trips to Penang/Langkawi/Redang/wherever, but for others..I suppose Sunway Lagoon counts for something :S After all, a fake beach is better than no beach, right? 

Do not wear make up to the beach

This week, I bring you more swimsuits that has managed to attract my attention. While we try to look for bikinis below RM50 (which is proving to be quite tasking), enjoy what I've found for this week :)

And, I really do feel very strongly about my title.
It's strange that I've actually seen people do it. Firstly, you can't get a tan if you've got an inch of make up on your face. Two, you are going to end up wet anyway. Three, where's the feeling of comfort if you've got stuff on your face?

But, I figured that some people may like it.. so I decided to put it up anyway. The bottom comes in the same print and it's pretty much like your normal bikini bottom.

Today our fashion crisis actually comes from all four of us at fashionistas anonymous,
because we have problems too :)

Here's our problem.

We at fashionistas anonymous have been going on shopping mall tours all over Selangor to look for the perfect outfits and the best bargains. But it seems we are running out of stores, and seem to be reusing the same ones. So instead of showing you stuff you can find everywhere, we want to go off the unbeaten track and find hidden treasures too. Having one of a kinds are always better.

I'm sure all of us have experienced going out and seeing someone else in the same top/skirt/shorts/shoes as us. And yes we just act oblivious and walk just a bit faster past them.

Today, I bring you a couple of findings in stores.

This month is all about the beach, my favorite place =) It’s time to leave your high heels and jeans at home and time to have some fun under the sun. With that I leave you with...

Mischka’s Beach Survival Kit

1. Sunscreen and Lip Balm
Don’t go under the sun without it. These 2 items are definitely essential. Do protect yourself from the sun. Get the highest SPF sunblock there is out there, haha.. and the lip balm (with SPF) will help you with dry and chapped lips. To give your skin the extra moisture it needs from being under the sun too long, buy body butters or body oils to apply on your skin after a day in the sun. You could even buy a cute beach hat to protect your face from the sun.
Important: Always a carry bottled water, and drink loads and loads of water.

2. Bikini’s or Swimsuit’s
This is a “Duh”! Haha.. I say it’s the only time acceptable to dress less and to flaunt. Buy good bikini’s or bathing suits, spend a bit more, cause they last you long. Pick something flattering for your body. For the body conscious girls, better to get bathing suits, so you’ll feel better and look good and confident.

3. Sunglasses
Sunglasses are not only good for protecting your eyes. But they are also a very hot accessory. Protecting your eyes while looking good, what more can you ask for.
4. Beach Towels
I do realize that hotels provide them, lol.. But it’s better to have your own =) Plus shops like Roxy and Billabong sell some really cute ones. Look good even when your drying yourself, haha.. Or use them as a chair blanket.
5. Flip Flops
It’s the beach, time to leave your high heels at home.. Instead, opt for more comfy footwear. Flip flops are the best.. comfy, airy and you can get them wet without spoiling them, cause they're meant to get wet. And you can also wear them everyday even when your not at the beach.
6. Beach Bag
This is very important. There are some very cute beach bags out there and what better way to keep all your important beach essentials?

Coco's beach look and achieving it

It’s a new month, and a new theme.
This month it’s all about the beach.
The sand, sun and all things hot.

If you ask me it’s relevant in Malaysia since we have summer all year around.
And I adore flip flops, shorts and denim skirts.

Since I’m the first to start with the blogging for our new theme,
I’m going to blog about “5 essential must-haves to complete your beach look”

1. A big beach bag / tote.
Let’s be reasonable, we need a lot of stuff at the beach. If there’s one place that everything can go wrong, it’s the beach. It makes no sense to carry everything in your hands, so why not take this opportunity to make it fashionable?

The perfect bag, is big enough for all ur junk (sunglasses, sunscreen, leave on conditioner, tanning oil,an mp3, and of course ur camera), is durable to sand and water (leather at the beach? Lol,no) and compliments your outfit (if you bag has prints, make sure ur swim suit has none. Only one of them can be your focal point)

2. Swim wear.
When people think beach, bikinis come to mind. And yes we are young and we have every reason to flaunt. But bikinis should not be our only option. And luckily it isn’t. There are many different types of swim wear, what suits others may not suit you. Different is not always bad, u just need the confidence to pull it off.

The perfect swim wear fits u well (it should not be too small or too big) , flatters your figure ( emphasizes your good bits, and hide your flaws), and is comfortable to move around in (there will be swimming, jumping and walking involved).

3. Head cover up.
The beach can easily damage your hair. Between the heat and the salt water, u need something to protect, tame and manage your hair. The (loose curls) beach hair look is great, but not often achievable. So why not opt for the second best thing instead and protect ur head and face from harsh heat? Hat, cap or scarf is up to you.

The perfect head cover up should be the right size (a hat that keeps falling too far down is not fashionable), it should stay in place (u might want to wear ur cap when u swim, or a gush of wind could blow past), and it should be a material water won’t damage too much (although I would not recommend anything plastic).

4. Beach cover up
We can’t exactly wear something impossible when we go to the beach. It comes off before we swim, and comes back on after. So it’s gotta be easy and breezy. Stay away white’s (it could get too transparent) and too thick materials (too heavy and too hot).
The perfect beach cover up should be light and flowy (it is the beach, and therefore it does get hot), it should be slightly loose, as to not cling too visibly (and sticking to the airy theme), and it should be in warm colours (that the sun will further just enhance, giving you more of a glow).

5. Flip flops / slippers
It’s all about getting sand between your toes, but rocks and tiny stones cutting you are not fun. And times when the sun is so hot, it heats up the sand and standing on the ground hurts. Ouch. So you can say slippers are mandatory. It doesn’t hurt that they’re cute and comfortable.The perfect flip flops / slippers are the perfect size (to ur feet, of course), are comfortable to walk in (for those long romantic walks on the beach, when u choose to not go barefoot), and are made of appropriate materials (any slippers with fabrics and sequince/stones should be handled with extreme care at the beach).

Hey all!

February has come and gone and we have been up and running for a month and a half! :D
We now enter March with a new theme! (If you didn't already know, every month we come up with a new theme). This time round, it's all about the sun, surf and sand. A topic, we're sure, most girls would enjoy discussing and reading about :)
We'll be bringing you beachwear this month as well as discussing issues about clothes and the beach! As usual, feel free to leave comments wherever you can :) We'll read them and you can rest assured that we'll always reply.

You see, I’m a swimmer, so often at competitions, we get those competitions T-shirts, which are usually either over-sized or the colors are too ugly to be true. My closet, is filled with these kind of shirts despite having given away lots before. I usually just wear normal T’s. Like, white or black nothing else. With shorts (like school shorts) or jeans. So, I’m kinda wondering if you might give me some advise on what to buy for my closet.

Hello to everyone and sorry (again) for missing last week’s post. Things at college are starting to get very hectic so I’m apologizing in advance if I miss out on another post again (hopefully not). Anyway, in today’s post, I’ve got a few items out (because I noticed we haven’t had the time to go around scouting for clothes lately). All of these items happen to be purple in color, because its my favorite! (never mind the fact that everyone believes it to be the official color for gays -.-).

What I think : Love the color(obviously), I don’t know how it looks like in real life, but it has the satin-ish feel to it so I think that’s cool, and you can wear it for practically any occasions ; dinner, movie (pair it with a slim cardigan), dates, you get me ;)

Red carpet happenings

I think I need to start by apologizing for not sticking to the schedule.

My topic for this week is “Fashion at the 80th Annual Academy Awards”
I have to say fashion at the Oscar’s this year was disappointing.
But I think the turn out is to blame.
Many of the A-list fashion icon’s did not show, so there wasn’t much to drool at.

Instead I’ve broken it down into 5 different categories;
1. Red- the “it” colour at this year’s Oscar
2. The must have accessory at the Oscar’s, a baby bump
3. Coco’s favourite Oscar looks this year
4. Coco’s ‘I crinkle my nose in digust’ Oscar looks this year.
5. Open for debate, the mixed reviews.

Red-hot.

1. Heidi Klum in Galliano
- One expression comes to mind, Va-Va-Voom. Heidi Klum can do no wrong.
2. Katherine Heigl in Escada
-Simple and classic.But with a colour that bold, it’s anything but boring.
3. Miley Cyrus in Valentino
- Miley might have given some weird looks on the red carpet, but that dress fits her well.

Baby got bump.
1. Cate Blanchett in Dries Van Noten
I wasn’t a fan of this, but I do love the shade of deep blue she’s in. And she does glow.
2. Jessica Alba in Marchesa
Jessica got some bad reviews for this gown, but I like it. It’s flows nicely.
3. Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga
This is one of Nicole Kidman’s most forgettable looks. The necklace is a tad bit much.

Thumbs up.
1. Anne Hathaway in Marchesa
It has a divine cut, and the rosettes on her shoulder are feminine yet sexy.
2. Keri Rusell in Nina Ricci
I love this pale gown against her skin tone. The hair and jewelry compliment it well.
3. Jennifer Garner in Oscar De La Renta
It’s fits her like a glove. Black dresses can be boring, but she gave hers ‘oomph’.

Thumbs down.
1. Daniel Day-Lewis and wife.
- the colours don’t match, the fabrics don’t match. It’s an eyesore.
2. Tilda Swinton in Alber Elbaz for Lanvin
–A missing ‘sleeve’, and eyelashes red like her hair? Someone buy her mascara.
3. Julie Christie in self designed cocktail dress with Louis vuitton spring 2008 gloves
-A cafeteria somewhere in the world is missing it’s lunch lady.

Up for debate.

These two celeb’s got mixed reviews about their outfits.
1. Cameron Diaz in Dior.
-I actually liked it. Pale pink and slight pleating. But it is missing some jewelry.
2. Marion Coutillard in Jean Paul Gaultier.
- She may look like a mermaid, but heck she’s definitely the most fashionable one.

It’s that time of the year..

The Oscar’s, Golden Globe’s, Academy Awards, etc.. It’s the time when celebrities dress up in gorgeous gown we only wish we could have.. Since it’s that time of the year, I thought I’d write about a few of my favorite red carpet looks from the Recent and Past award shows and who I think looked the best.

The not so typical black dress
We see a lot of typical black gowns worn on the red carpet.. I like these dresses cause they aren't plain and boring, and has something that makes it look different. I like how JLo’s dress kinda reminds me of an indian sari and Cate Blanchette dress has a hint of green. Although I have to say, the dress I love the most is..
Best Dress: Angelina Jolie in Versace (1st picture from right)
Angelina Jolie in black leather is just HOT! I never thought a black leather dress could ever work, but she pulled it off great!

Red Carpet? Red gowns.. duh!
Red never ceases to stand out from a crowd, Heidi Klum’s dramatic gown says it all. Red also looks very classy, as Nicole Kidman and Katherine Heigl does look in the color red.
Best Dress: Halle Berry in Elie Saab (2nd from right)
This was a though decision between Halle Berry and Keira Knightley.. But I absolutely LOVE Elie Saab! Haha.. Halle Berry won an Oscar that night. And I think she deserves every bit of it, wearing that dress, haha..
Pretty in White.
White can be boring sometimes, but adding pretty details to a dress can do so much. Beyonce looks elegant in her white Georgio Armani gown and I really like how Debra Messing’s dress (3rd from left) has a little flare at the bottom and the black detail on the dress, and that dress gives her a great silhouette.
Best Dress: Cameron Diaz in Valentino (2nd from left)
I don’t think many would agree with my decision, but I like it. I don’t think this dress would work that well on someone else. With her dark hair and, right accessories, right color of make up, she really pulled it off.
Au Naturale..
No one does Diva better than Beyonce and JLo, but I think they look stunning, toning it down in a more natural approach. I think natural is the best way to go. It gives you that ‘fresh’ look and doesn’t look like you’ve gone overboard. You don’t even need to accessorize much.
Best Dress: Halle Berry in Valentino (Top Row, 2nd picture from left)
If you guys have seen ‘Halle Berry Style Star’ on E! channel, the moment I saw this dress I just absolutely fell in love with it. Love the color, love the beading..
A Splash of Color!
Bright, striking colors may not work for everyone.. pick the right color that matches your skin tone the best. Some dresses may drown your skin color and make you look pale, some may just look weird.
Best Dress: This was a really tough decision for me, I think they all look great! =P
These celebrities definitely know how to do it best, so I give them all props on the gorgeous dresses. Congrats! Hahaha..
Let’s not forget ‘The Red Carpet Disasters!’
Where some look great.. Some look disastrous! From what I hear on tv, celebrities gets dresses from different designers sent their doorstep for free for them to choose to wear for these kinda events right? *jealous* I wonder.. is this really the best pick from the bunch? Hmm..?

5 things to carry in your bag at all times

I'm taking Coco's place today because she forgot :)
She will post on Thursday instead. Just for this week, though.
This week, I'd like to post about MY essential 5 items that I make sure to ALWAYS have in my handbag. Besides your wallet and handphone(s), of course.

This 5 items are there in case of beauty emergencies :)

1. Facial Blotters
I'm not sure if anybody suffers my problem but I have really oily skin and to make sure that I don't end up looking like fried chicken, I always carry this around.
My preference is Clean & Clear. The blue ones. They really work though they're probably more expensive than most. It soaks up all excess shit and your face remains un-oily for a longer period of time.

2. Eyeliner

I'm always running from one place to another and sometimes I need to look slightly better than I did before. That's why I carry eyeliner. Just to line my eyes and make sure people know where they are :)

Carrying eyeliner would also help to freshen up your face if you're already wearing makeup.
I don't have any preference for eyeliner. For me, the darker and blacker it is, the better.

3. Lip gloss

Face it, it'll be quite sad if you've only got eyeliner on and no lippy. You can even wear lippy without eyeliner but I like to keep lippy and eyeliner very close together. Lippy just gives your lips the extra shine and makes it look plump-er (if you get what I mean). I'm lip stick sort of person but lip gloss is easy to carry around and apply.
Again, I have no preference with lippy. As long as it's a colour that matches my skin. Always make sure to buy a colour that matches your skin and not a colour that you like. Also, lip gloss comes out lighter than lip stick so don't get a red lip gloss and expect it to look like lip stick :)

(I like referring to both lip gloss and lip stick as lippy. Makes life so much easier. Seriously)

4. Tissues!
We live in Malaysia. The sun is constantly shining and even at night, sometimes, it's HOT. Walking 5 minutes on a normal day can make us sweat buckets. To avoid hair-sticking-to-face moments, carry tissues around, seriously. I've seen gorgeous girls walking around with hair sticking to their faces due to sweat and it's not attractive.
Use the thicker tissues to soak up the sweat cause the thinner ones tend to tear :S

5. Comb/Brush
(Did the person who invented the brush get a Nobel prize?)
Again, this, to me, is essential to freshen up. After a whole day of running around and whatnot, your hair would be messy and all over the place. You can freshen up the face to it's best but if your hair is sticking up and looking similar to Einsten, face facts, not attractive.
I carry a comb cause it's thinner than a brush and easier to keep in your bag.

And you don't even need a big bag to carry all these things~ A normal sized one would do!

Today, I'm going to deviate from the everyday mainstream fashion and I'm going to talk about my favourite 'anti-fashions' :)

I spent the whole week thinking about what to write about today, and then it dawned on me that I should write about something that I find fascinating.

Punk

With all looks, it's good to do some research.
The problem with the punk subculture here in this country is everything is done half assed. They think punk = tie, plaid skirt, white shirt, knee high socks, boots and spiky hair.
Truth is... that isn't it. The punks back in the 70's never wore knee high socks.
To research for this look, it's best to read about the lady and the band who started it all in London. Vivienne Westwood is the pioneer of the punk look and to this day, her couture shows incorporate street fashion with high fashion. She's also the lady that I admire to no end, and I got my name from her :) Also, Sex Pistols. They are one of the first few bands who adopted the punk look. Think "God Save the Queen"!
The main aspect of being a punk is the attitude. Not really what you wear.
Anarchy is the only way to roll with the punks. Anti-everything.
And I'll explain why the punks are associated with chains and safety pins. When it started out, the punks were also anti-hygiene, apparently, and they never bothered keeping neat and tidy (or clean). When their clothes started to tear they just patched it up with chains and safety pins.

Goths

Everybody's opinions about this look is BLACK.
Yeah, that's true :)

White faces, red lips (or black), black clothes. I find the Goths fascinating, honestly, I do.

However, I'm not a goth-y person so I can't say much.. so all I'm gonna say is...
Don't imitate Marilyn Manson! He hates it. I hate it. Thank you.

Try to be individualistic at all times. Have your own opinions, fight for what you think is right and so on.
Oh, don't forget to terrorise the neighbourhood. The best part.
Just remember, corsets, metal, boots, fishnets, red lipstick and eyeliner!

Cyber Punks and Cyber Goths

I like to refer to them as 'The Cybers'. I love this look. Neon EVERYTHING. The only difference is the punks tend to be very bright and the goths tend to be darker with more corsets.
This look ain't too popular here in Malaysia (why?!) so I have never actually seen what people wear but I'll let you in on some stuff that I do know :)

Glow-in-the-dark pieces.

Seriously, guys... it's so cool (for me) when the UV lights hit your hair or outfit and suddenly, things start to glow. (Coco, they don't wear shuffle pants :D)
Dread falls/Foam falls/Plastic falls.

My favourite part of this whole look. Basically, it's fake hair, dreadlocked and strung unto a string and you tie it to your hair. It's awesome and it's such a statement, really. You can also incorporate non-hairy items to your falls. For example, glow-in-the-dark tubes, studded belts etc. You can top it all off with a thick black cloth hairband (to hide the transition from hair to falls). The foam falls are just foam done in the same way as the dreadlocks. Same goes for the plastic falls. Plastic falls tend to be stiff and sticky-outy.
Metal pieces.

Nobody's going to laugh at you and call you Xena if you wear this among a group of cybers. In fact, metal bras and panties with metal pieces at the crotch is a common sight.
Nets and mesh tops.

Fishnets... honestly, you can't have enough of this. Preferably in some shocking colour or another.
The furries.
Lately, there's been an increase in furry leg warmers. I see a couple of people I know wearing them and honestly, it's very cute.

Chunkiest boots in the world.
Tall? Chunky? Huge? PERFECT.
The best is to Google out what I've mentioned. Just type in 'cyber punks'.

And as always, learn the attitude :)

I admit, I love to dress up and terrorise the mainstream fashion followers.
And I have a whole crew of fashion terrorists. :) (No, you won't be able to find us in Sungei Wang) I think that we should all challenge the standing rules on fashion. Who cares what the experts say? If you like it, you dress it! That's what I say.
There are no pictures because, sadly, I know a few people who dress like this and look good but I'm not gonna use their pictures here. Google!

Here are what I think is a must have in every girl’s closet =) And if you don’t already own one of these, you have committed a serious fashion crime! Time to update your closet..

1. The perfect pair of fitted jeans. Jeans go with almost anything and everything. Get a pair of jeans that fit your figure best, try various types of jeans in color (dark, light, faded) and cuts (boot leg, straight, low waist, etc..) before purchasing.

2. The classic black dress. A fashion must! If you don’t have one, get one! Look for a black dress that is simple, stylish and elegant at the same time, nothing too flashy. Whether it’s for a formal or semi-formal event, it’s perfect and you don’t have to over accessorize. keep it simple. I usually find some really cute black dresses at Zara, Forever 21 (see the dress in ‘Coco’s valentine’s guide’ post) and www.mydressroom.com.my

3. Black heels or pumps. They can not only be worn with professional/work or formal outfits, but with dressy outfits as well. They even look great with casual outfits, wear them with straight cut jeans or jeans with a lil flare (I’m not talking Elvis Presley flare here ppl, lol), jeans that are a little bit longer, that covers a little bit of the heel, so when you wear it, it makes your legs look longer.

4. Plain black or white fitted t-shirt or tank top, nothing can go wrong. They work well with jeans or mini skirts. They are simple and it’s ok to go a little bit heavy when accessorizing. But, I don’t mean putting on too many accessories! More of big or chunky looking accessories. haha.
Places to get? Topshop, and Zara. I wouldn’t really suggest 21, I bought one from there and after a few washes it got really lose. Get something that would last you a few years at least.

5. Bathing suit or bikinis you feel great and comfortable in. If you are the body conscious type, better to buy a bathing suit than a bikini. It’s better to wear what you feel comfortable in, if you feel confident, you’ll look great. Although bikini’s are great, try to stay away from the overly skimpy bikini’s. No.. I do not wanna see your boobs that are about to fall out or your ass, or even half of it (you might as well go naked).

6. Bra/ Lingerie. Yes, of course every girl owns one. It’s a necessity for every girl/ woman out there. I have seen some woman with bras that don’t fill their boobs and are practically spillin out of their bras, which can be seen over their tops, a sight I hope I never see again. Spend and buy a good quality bra that fits you well. As Coco said, don’t over spend on lingerie that makes no sense, like those really expensive transparent lingerie. I mean, that much for that little cloth? Haha.. It’s ok if you’re working and earning a lot.

7. Big handbags. Love em =) Again as in my previous post, we all love big bags but do stay away from bags that are 5 times your size (see picture in my previous post).

I love skin bags. If you love em too, a shop sells really nice ones, Élo in bangsar.

8. White button down shirt can be worn casually with jeans or formally. It’s simple, great for semi casual events, or work . For college students, it will be useful for presentations. Best to get the cotton ones, nicely cut and fitted well ones.

9. Hoodies. Everyone loves a good hoodie. They keep you warm from the chill. Do get those with zipper’s in the front though, the ones that make your body look flattering. Not the oversized ones without zipper’s.
They could be useful for those in college. I’ve seen some cute hoodies in ‘Pull and Bear’.

10. A hot after hours top for those nights you feel like partying with your girlfriends. Or looking to grab a guy’s attention? Every girl needs one of this top once in awhile =P Something eye catching but not too flaunty.. Here are a few ideas.

When it comes to the items above, I say spend a little more money than you usually would on clothes, by buying in stores that sell good quality and fabulous clothes of course =P cause these are things that you may use very often.

Think about it.. Would you rather buy a lower quality item for a cheaper price that would only last you for awhile and would probably keep buying over again, or spend a little more on a quality item that would last you longer?

Honestly this week it was hard for me to come up with a topic.
And very sadly, I had no time to shop.
(I will try very hard to make sure I never, not have the time to shop again)
Shopping makes me very happy.

So finally I’ve come up with this.
I was going through gossip columns (tabloids) online, (Nice to know what’s happening in the world ;) ) and I came across Lauren Conrad’s new clothing line.

First Impression?
They’re pretty.

Second look?
Nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing I haven’t seen before.

Third time’s a charm?
Ohmygod it’s way too overpriced.
Exp: the third model from the left, wearing the white dress.
White dress = $ 145.
Convert it and do the math. It just doesn’t make sense.
We don’t all have money trees now do we?
I sure as heck don’t. Though I would seriously like one.

Which then got me thinking about what I was going to blog about,
And then it hit me.

To splurge or to save?
Three things I think make no sense to buy when you are a college student and your ATM does not smile back at you.

1. Designer bags may be gorgeous and iconic but when you aren’t earning more than 5k a month, it just doesn’t make sense. So study hard, dream big, and one day when you can afford it, splurge by all means. Having it in college is not a plus point anyway, because
a) not all people are nice, and there might be people who will then label you as a rich b***h.
b) most people will assume it’s fake, and that u buy fake goods.
c) It could get stolen.
(my big dream? A Chanel bag before I’m 25)

2. See through lingerie. While on our search for the perfect ‘after party’ outfit for valentine’s to put on our blog, we came across various bra’s that were see through. Now bra’s are expensive as it is, and I do not see the point in paying double the price for something that is not even going to cover anything. Can u really wear that transparent bra underneath your clothing?
( a boyfriend should like you for nothing more than your personality anyway)
a) imagine you're wearing white
b) imagine it rains
c) they are not at all padded, and merely just thin fabric (often lace) so u can imagine that people will notice you when you are perky.

3. Jimmy Choo’s. I know Jimmy Choo was either born in Malaysia or has a Malaysian mother or something or another, and we are always told to support Malaysian talent. As breath taking as they are, Jimmy Choo’s should be just drooled upon for now. I do a fair share of drooling myself. But if you wanna get technical, all designer shoes should be avoided. Here are some scenario’s,
a) it just rained, and as you walk across the road you step in a puddle ( imagine your shoe is satin)
b) you'rewalking along the usually pot hole filled Malaysia road, when suddenly your heel breaks.
c) You are walking across the street when suddenly a motorist (you should know about the way Malaysian motorcycle’s ride) appears at a distance approaching fast. Would you really run fast in your expensive shoes?

Hello again, to everyone who visits this site. Before I start on my post, I would like to apologize for missing out on my Friday post last week (8/02/08). As you know, it was Chinese New Year and things were quite crazy for me, preparations and all the house-visits. So, I apologize once again for failing to put up my post.

Yes! Moving on…. Since this site is created for girls of our age (or close), I’m assuming most of you who read this site happens to be in college/university. And that’s my theme for this week’s post.

Ever since we started this site, I’ve started paying attention to the various dressing styles of my classmates/college mates (males included, but I won’t talk about it). These days, its impossible to walk around college and not feel a stab of displeasure when you look at another person’s dressing, like Ohmygod! (hence the name of this site). Some look like they’re going to the beach (shorts, t-shirts, flip flops), some look like they’re going clubbing (short skirts, tight clothes, heels and LOADS of makeup) and etc. So, I hope my post for this week will help everyone.

College Do’s.

a) Do wear comfortable clothes.
I think this should be easy enough to understand. Think about all the hours you’re going to spend in college (I have this one class which is 7 hours long). So, wear something that you feel comfortable in, and not clothes that you think would impress the people in your college. Having your own personal style is always good, and you can express your personality and feelings through the clothes you wear, but bear in mind you’re dressing for college, not any other function.

b) Do minimize your accessories.
I love accessories as much as the next girl and we all know that accessories make an outfit. But there should be a limit to these items. Don’t go to college with your wrists clanking with 4 different bracelets (and a watch). For example, there’s this girl in my Design class who wears like, 3 huge plastic bangles on each wrist and every time she moves, it hits against the table and makes a lot of noise. Not good.

c) Do carry an appropriate bag for classes.
This is important too. So, you got a new Guess handbag, That’s great, really. I appreciate nice bags. And you want to carry it to college to show everyone else. So, where do you keep your books, stationeries and etc? In your arms? Another example, this girl I caught a glimpse of when she walked past my class, she was carrying this small, cute red handbag, but honestly, you could hardly see it, when her arms are filled with a bunch of notebooks, an art block, a pencil case and etc. So, use a bigger and more appropriate bag. It doesn’t matter if no one in your college knows you got a new handbag.

d) Do wear practical clothes.
There is a difference between comfortable and practical clothes. For instance, you may feel comfortable in a tube top, but that doesn’t make it practical for college. Wear something nice, but practical like, maybe a pair of nice jeans with a cute new top, or you can wear spaghetti straps and match it with a comfy sweater.

College Don’t’s.

a) Don’t wear heels to college.
Seriously, everyone would do well to take this advice. Don’t get me wrong. I love heels too (though I don’t wear them often) and they look great. But you’re only going to college. Apart from looking out of place in the college environment, it also looks quite uncomfortable to be walking around in all day (not to mention the blisters you get before the day is over). Stick to shoes that are comfortable. For example, sneakers, or ballet flats, or even slippers.

b) Don’t wear short skirts.
This is an ultimate no-no in college. I mean, skirts are fine. Short skirts are NOT. When you’re walking up the stairs, you don’t want to look up and see another person’s underwear (or lack of). Not a good sight. You don’t want to see it, other people don’t want to see it either. A full skirt can look nice if you know how to wear it. It doesn’t matter if no one sees those wonderful legs of yours. You know you have it! ;)

c) Don’t wear loose tops.
By loose tops, I mean that kind of top where the collar area hangs out when you bend down or something. It is NOT GOOD to have your boobs hanging out of your top when you’re too busy in class to notice. We all know you have it, but we don’t necessarily want to see it. It doesn’t make you look sexy AT ALL.

Last but not least, (this is the general one)
d) Don’t wear any other skin-baring, tight-fitting, short or otherwise uncomfortable clothing.
The most important thing is to be comfortable AND look nice at the same time. Yes, you may look good now, but you won’t feel comfortable when you’re freezing your bum off in one of your classes and you don’t have a sweater/jacket with you, or you have to walk around doing research and you’re in your heels. Looking good may be important, but it doesn’t help you pass your exams.

College is a great place to meet friends, make new ones, hang out and stuff but the main point? Study. So, maybe you should put more effort in knowing what’s going on in class rather than wondering what to wear for tomorrow.

As I'm writing this post now, many girls are probably getting ready for their day out in town with their boyfriends (or if you are single, your friends). Here are a few things that I think girls should avoid doing on Valentine's Day. Remember, it's not just the clothes that make you fashionable, it's how you carry yourself.

Okay, so your boyfriend didn't get you what you wanted for Valentine's Day... don't throw a fit in public. I've seen girls do this year after year. You pull a face, he tries to calm you down, you say something, he is offended, you yell, he yells, you walk away, he drags you back, yells somemore etc.
It's not just hard for us to watch, it's also quite embarassing for you, not to mention people get the feeling that you are seeking for attention.
If you HAVE to fight... fight it out when you get home.

Wearing too little. It's the day of romance, girls... not sleaze. Try to avoid wearing too little. We all know you've got great assets... we can see it even if it's not thrown directly at us. The saying 'if you have it, flaunt it' doesn't mean to flaunt it obscenely. They mean to flaunt it tastefully. Micro minis that cover nothing and tops that don't do their jobs should stay at the back of the closet on this day.

Getting it on in public.
Seriously, people, where's the pleasure? Making out in the middle of a crowd is not what I would deem great and pleasurable. The standard of voyeurism that you go through is very high. And people don't enjoy seeing your hands wander, either. A little kiss or two (or three), a nice sweet hug... hell, you guys can remain attached at all times for all we care but try not to get too dirty. It's not a pretty sight. Thanks.

Getting pissed drunk before the night is over. We understand you're having fun.. but please try to remain sane for the rest of the night as it's not over and you don't want it to be over yet ;). [p/s: throwing up at the side of the road ruins everything.]

Okay, this is something that not everybody would agree with but I feel young girls shouldn't wear too much make up. I've seen high school girls walk out on Valentine's Day complete with fake eyelashes, very red lipstick, blusher that matches the lipstick and about 50 pounds of foundation and eyeshadow. People everywhere are giving tips to look young. You are young, you have age on your side! Don't age yourself by putting on too much make up when it's very obvious you're not even 20 yet. You can go for a dramatic look but stay away from the 'stage make up'.

Glaring at girls who look at your boyfriend.
Hey, he's hot. Be happy you have him :)

There's way more but I don't want to hold you back from your preparation for the perfect day/night.
Just remember, that you wear the clothes.. the clothes don't wear you.
Behave in an appropriate manner when out in public :)

Accessorize.. Accessorize..

When it comes to accessories, many individuals are unaware of the appropriate items that will best work with their outfit. Some may lack accessories, and I have seen some that go way… overboard! They are called accessories for a reason, they are meant to work with your outfit, not to overshadow your outfit =P

A few tips to accessorizing. Along with a few do’s and don’ts pictures =)

1. Pick a focal point.
Pick ONE focal point for your look, either with your outfit or your accessory.
If your outfit is heavy or is printed, it is sometimes better to have subtle or less accessories. Personally I like to keep my outfit plain and simple, which gives me more choices to play around with accessories.

2. Matchy is not catchy
This is often done with evening wear. For example, if your dress is red, that doesn’t mean everything from head to toe has to be red! Lol..

3. Don’t over do it!
Here’s a great tip by coco chanel when you feel like you have over accessorized and don’t know what to do:

"When accessorizing always take off the last thing you put on"- Coco Chanel.

4. Handbag, don’t leave leave home without it..
Who doesn’t love em? I love big bags, but try not going for bags that are five times your size, haha.. It’s better for dresses that are printed to go for a simpler plain handbag or clutch.

Guys make a great accessory and an arm candy, haha.. Do stay away from wearing matching couple t-shirts though! But if you have to, it’s ok if there’s just a little hint of similarities. Take Nicole richie and joel madden lookin hot in red.

A new week, a new topic

But first, I would to address a comment left this week, disapproving my dissing of crocs.
First off, this blog is about expressing our own personal views. So I’m sorry if people have different opinions.
And secondly, you state that crocs did not claim to be fashionable, they claim to be comfy.
Well, I've never said they claim to be fashionable. I just said I didn’t see their big appeal, style wise.
Keep in mind, when a shoe is designed, two important things are taken into account, style (fashion) and practicality (comfort).

This week?

My favourite celebrity fashion icons.

People sometimes don’t realize that celebrities don’t often dress themselves. So you can’t truly say it’s their style. They get a lot of their clothes and bags for free. So technically, they do not spend fortunes on clothes, like the girls spending fortunes to look like them do. So instead of unrealistic dreaming (and aiming for bankruptcy), let’s just admire them, and take a lesson or two.

Coco’s favourite fashion icon’s.

1. Vanessa Hudgens.
Not only did she come back from a nude photo scandal, she came back fabulous.
Vanessa loves? Jeans, Balenciaga bags, beige, keeping her clothes on, and Starbucks.

2. Hayden Panettiere.
My favourite hero. Save the fashionista, save the world.
Hayden loves? Pencil skirts, hoodies, sweat pants, diamond earrings, and Milo Ventimiglia.
3. Audrina Patridge and Lauren Conrad.
If you're anything like me, you too are obsessed with The Hills in an unhealthy manner. Although people always refer to Lauren as the stylish one, I actually prefer Audrina’s edgy sense of style to Lauren’s preppy ways. Either way, they both hold a place on my list.
Audrina and Lauren loves? L.A, Brody Jenner, anything un-Heidi-ish.

Why I love them?

1. They dress age appropriate.
2. They don’t try so hard, they keep it real. And I appreciate real people.
3. They make pumping gas and going to the gym look fashionable. Which are two things I doubt I’ll ever accomplish with the ‘oomph’ that they do.

In conclusion, fashion icon’s love clothes, and I love looking at their clothes. Not meant for idolizing. That would be a sin.

It's Monday again...

Which means it's time for our customary update :)

After the little fiasco on Saturday night, the four of us has agreed to scrape the post that usually goes up on Saturday, which is the Fashion Victim post.
While we had fun doing that, we would like to avoid future drama :)

We've come up with a few ideas to replace that post. Since we couldn't come to a decision as to which idea to use, we've decided to allow you guys to pick what you would like to read.
Here's the ideas:

We would put up a random piece of clothing (good or bad) and allow you guys to comment on it without us commenting. Which means, for one day in a week, you guys would be allowed to voice out your opinions since this blog is all about opinions, anyway.
We'd put up a little subscription box on our sidebar and anybody who would like to receive updates from our site can sign up. From this, we'd pick out a random person every week and allow that person to blog about their favourite item or anything of the like.
As you guys know, every week, there's some fancy red carpet event going on somewhere and everybody loves a good gown or two on some celebrity. We'll pick out our favourite celebrity fashion and put it up for everybody to see with cheaper alternatives that we can find here in Malaysia.
This is something similar to the first but instead of posting a picture, we'll raise some questions/issues such as 'Should fur be worn in Malaysia?' and give you a chance to voice out your opinions and raise some issues yourself.

So, guys, don't be shy to choose which one you think is better but bear in mind we would pick out the one that the majority has chosen.

This blog was started by us as something fun for the four of us to do because it's also a topic commonly discussed between us. We do realise that we have no right in posting pictures of people without their knowledge and blogging about them and we'll acknowledge our ignorance in doing so all in the name of our own fun.

To the two individuals who have left us comments on our chatbox, we'll apologise if we have offended you in any way (which most obviously, we have). We, as everybody else, do not have the right to judge people but also bear in mind that this blog was started by us as a way of expressing our opinions. While some remarks made by us on this blog may have come off as mean and insulting to you, we're sorry that we never realised how, what we thought was humour, came off as sarcasm or insults to the readers.

While we do understand why the individuals were angry at us, we also would like to mention that the comments got a little out of hand. This is our own opinions as stated in our profile, and any hate of any sort should only be directed at us. The message that included a slightly rude comment about our mothers was not exactly necessary. We understand that you were trying to get a message and point across but using our mothers and directly insulting the way they dress was quite rude as we have not mentioned anybody's mothers or insulted them.

And about the comments on the yellow dress, yet again, it was her own opinion and she doesn't expect everybody to love it too.

In the future, we'll appreciate it if negative comments on our blog be written out as constructively as possible. :)

Chinese New Year is the time of shopping! (A lil break from Valentine's)

You know, as much as I love skimpy, skanky clothes, I love hoodies.
Don't call me mad. I know we live in Malaysia but I've still always wanted a hoodie. And I found one!!

This dress was found in a store in SS2
Guess how much it was? RM50!
RM50 for a dress is SUPER cheap for me.

They've got quite a bit of interesting items there.
I'd definitely recommend this store, though, you'd have to be careful to pick out only the quality items :)

I got this warm, cosy hoodie for RM30.
That's so much less than I expected to pay for, seriously.
I'm wearing a skirt also bought in F.O.S for RM43.90 (around that price)

It's not meant to be a dress. More as a top than anything else.
It comes with the belt :) So it's worth the RM59.90

I would like to blog about a girl that I saw while shopping on Monday.
She was wearing a pastel yellow dress-like-thing, shocking pink leggings and some lousy coloured ballerina flats.
If that wasn't bad enough, as I was looking at her in hidden shock, I caught something pastel blue-ish peeking from under her skirt. It took me 5 whole minutes to realise that her panty was worn over her leggings!
My advice to her, if I could tell her is, look in the mirror before leaving the house. This is the ultimate rule in fashion.
Also, as much as I love lingerie, I don't think people appreciate it peeking from under your skirt in that manner.

Fake designer labels!, If you can’t afford it, don’t fake it..
But if you really must, please do your research before buying a fake designer label..
Here’s one thing that really irritates me, fake Ralph Lauren polos, I see a lot of fakes around, here’s a lil tip on how to buy fake polos, if u must..
- There are only four players in a polo team, so the number on your shirt should only vary from numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and no more than that..
Sunglasses, leave them at the door..
Sunglasses should be taken off the moment you enter a mall, home or any building.. as a matter of fact they shouldn’t even be worn when its not sunny.. And shopping in designer shops wearing sunglasses doesn’t make you look like a rich person shopping in an expensive store, just be yourself.. (sorry for being harsh, just speakin my mind, hehe =P)

Here’s a few items (again referring to my collage theme) I found for this week, will try to bring you more stuff next week from other stores, lol..

I love this dress! It’s so cute.. a yellow polka-dotted dress with a dark brown bow..
Perfect for girls going on lunch dates.. It’s Valentines day, leave your jeans and t-shirts at home girls.. Dress up a lil and look good for ur guy =) Found this dress at Forever 21, Pavillion for RM 149 (I know it’s a lil bit much, but I think it’s worth it, plus Chinese New Year’s just around the corner, ang pow! =P)
This wedge is only RM59.90 from Nose.. (not meant to go with dress above, just a random finding)

It’s that time of the week.

First off, we’re going to switch things up a little.

This week instead of showcasing three items, I’m going to blog about fashion mishaps.

Coco’s list of five things that are not fashionable.
(They are either not in fashion or never were fashionable to begin with.)
Either way, they should not be attempted.

Crocs
Oh my god crocs get on my nerves. I understand that some people value their comfort. Don’t get me wrong I value comfort too. But when it comes to crocs I’d rather walk barefoot in the mud than be seen in them. For god’s sake they are plastic clogs. They do not look good.
Overexposure
If you have it, flaunt it? That is not always the case. Sometimes some things are better left to the imagination. Overexposure was never in fashion. Have u ever seen Pamela Anderson in the best dressed list? I didn’t think so. Less is not always more. Leave the micro mini’s and busty tops at home. Better yet, burn them.
Platform Shoes
It’s 2008 now, platform shoes went out of style a decade ago. Update yourself. If you feel the need to look tall, there are always wedges and high heels. The Spice Girls might be back together and touring, but that does not mean platform shoes are making a comeback.
Clothes that don't fit
I know sometimes we all like to think we are slimmer than we really are, and sometimes we like to cover things we don’t want people to see. But it is not advisable to buy something a size too small or a size to big. Buying clothes a size to small, defeats the whole purpose, as it makes u look bigger than u are. When you bust at the seams, it shows. If you are an M or L, it’s totally acceptable. There’s nothing wrong with it. And buying clothes that are too big are also not advisable. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen might do it, but keep in mind they make too much money too care what people think. It makes you look like a slob, and slightly lazy. As though you are not concerned about your choice of outfit. It’s not always a good thing.
Fur
We live in Malaysia. Let’s be realistic. It’s a very hot country. Also, fur is not cheap. And it’s cruelty towards animals. So it’s pretty obvious when people wear fur, it’s fake. Not only does fake fur make one look cheap, it also makes one look mentally unwell when wearing it in the Malaysian heat. What’s worse is the variety of dyed fur today in shades of pink, purple and even green? There is no such thing as a purple fox. So there should not be purple fur. Unless you live somewhere cold, or you are just not well in the head, do not buy fur. Fake or real. Big no-no.

And now, another 5 items I should not need to explain.

6. Overalls (we passed the age of 7)
7. Baggy jeans with various pockets @ thug style (we are not thugs)
8. Shuffle pants (life is not a constant rave)
9. Visible thong or g-string straps strung above waistline of jeans. ( sleazy spells easy)
10. Sunglasses at night (need I say more?)
